Cambridge Historically Informed Performance Society
About:
The Cambridge Historically Informed Performance Society aims to bring historical performance practice and early music to musicians from across the University.
Whether you are an experienced performer of early music, or may perhaps just be intrigued by this niche world of gut strings and wooden flutes, all are welcome to CHIPSoc

We plan to organise semi-regular workshops on a range of topics relating to Historically Informed Performance of works from the early Renaissance to the late Classical, which will allow members to experience this music close to how it would've been experienced in the time of its composition.
In addition, we will run a series of talks and lunchtime recitals featuring a mixture of students and professionals in the field, allowing members to share their music with others.

In-between these active sessions, the society will act as a forum for a range of early music ensembles within the University. Ensembles will be able to register with the society and be listed on the website and social media pages, this will allow us to provide support with publicity and finding venues.
